A “burble tune” (also called a crackle or pop tune) is a specific calibration that intentionally causes extra fuel to ignite in the exhaust during deceleration. By adjusting ignition timing, fuel delivery, and throttle behavior, the engine produces those signature pops, crackles, and “burbling” sounds when you lift off the gas.
It’s primarily done for sound and driver experience rather than performance gains. While it can make the car feel more aggressive, it also increases exhaust temperatures and can accelerate wear on components like catalytic converters, mufflers, and exhaust valves if pushed too aggressively.
